To celebrate the release of the new “Avengers: Endgame” film, a group of pranksters from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) recently decided to transform the school’s Great Dome into Captain America’s iconic shield.
One of the pranksters – who refer to themselves as hackers – told the Boston Globe that dozens of people worked on the project for months, and even said they started planning for the prank about a year ago after learning of the Marvel movie’s release.
The anonymous hacker also told the Globe that the current generation of MIT student grew up with the “Avengers” movies, and Cap’s shield was just a symbol of their gratitude to the franchise.
Even Captain America actor Chris Evans showed his support for the prank, tweeting, “Very cool!”
